Club Match at Bushy 27th December 2007

It was nice to see a few new faces at the match such as Ray’s brother. Stan was steward for the day keeping things under control.

This year after a 9.00am start the fishing was unusually kind to us with everyone finishing by late morning, one by 9.15am. Perhaps it was all down to a change in the temperature. A week earlier it had been below zero for most of the day but around Christmas it picked up to about 10C. It appears that this put them on the feed. There was a medium south westerly breeze, a bit chilly perhaps, that was not to strong to cast into. It gave a nice ripple to form a perfect day for winter.

At the start the fish were all around the lake and close in. They were taking any flies, buzzers, boobies, poly-stickles etc.. Most people were using a slow intermediate line to get it just below the surface.

By 10am nearly everybody had finished, except poor John who had 2 in the bag but had lost several. Unfortunately for him the fish moved out from the bank to the middle of the lake. One could see the boat anglers hauling them out – just out of casting range of John. Fortunately the commotion from the boat activity pushed the fish back towards the bank. Then, having got a broken hook on one fish, John was quickly able to finish off with his last fish and it was all over around 11.30am.

All the fish were around the 3lbs mark, nothing big. The only notable fish was a Browny of 4-5lbs caught by Ray and another of about 6lbs caught by Bill J, both of which were returned.

Because people had finished and were hanging around then the cooking started early. By the time John had finished the cooking was well under way, soup, burgers, sausages etc., - bought forward from the intended 1pm.

By 1.30pm everybody was on their way home.

Iver Competition Rules

Several points were raised concerning tightening up rules and after some discussion the following was agreed :-

1)      Barbless hooks will NOT be allowed in any competition, even if allowed at the fishery. They will however be allowed in non-competition events and then ONLY if permitted by the fishery and agreed by the Iver steward (eg in this year’s fun catch & release match at Ravensthorpe).

2)      At Iver competitions NO COMPETITOR will move off before the start time AS AGREED BY THE STEWARD OF THE DAY, normally 9.00am. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.

3)  Competitors should refrain from leaving earlier than the finish time. In exceptional circumstances it may be possible but

with the agreement of the steward of the day.

End of Year Dinner :-

This year’s event was held at the Aurora Hotel in Windsor on Saturday Feb 9th.

A fine time was had by all.

There will be a new venue next year as the hotel is being redeveloped for flats. However, the current owners will move to a new location and contact us at the appropriate time.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 11th December 2007 IVERFLYFISHERS

                                                                                Horsemoor Centre, Langley

MEETING OPENED: 8.20pm

CHAIRMAN: Not present.  Ken to stand-in.

APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE:            None

SECRETARY: The minutes of last years AGM were read through and approved by M.Golding and C Winterbourne.

 REPORTS:

TREASURER:  The membership were informed of the decision taken by the committee at their November meeting regarding poor club attendancies.

It was proposed by K Williams to reduce meeting nights to one a month, making savings on hall hire and subscriptions could be reduced significantly. Eddie asked if the Hall fee's would go up if we changed to once a month.   Ken was sure that it would not.   A lot of discussion took place and it was decided to meet at the Horsemoor Centre on the First Tuesday of every month, starting 2008.   Proposed by K Williams and seconded by E Gray.

Club subscriptions to be reduced to £10 for adults with no concessions, junior membership to be free up to the age of 16.          Proposed by K Williams and seconded by E Gray. accepted by all those present.

Adoption of balance sheet for 2006-2007:   R Simpson and E Gray

NEWSLETTER EDITOR:  Allen said that the AMFC results were not on the web, and he was still finding it difficult to obtain accurate results.  Peter Firth  to be contacted for this.   Problems with Trojans is now sorted.

Eddie proposed a vote of thanks to Allen for an excellent newsletter, and those present agreed.

AMFC ORGANISER:   Ron said he thought the fishing in general was poor this season, and went on to explain that although we just missed out on staying up in group1, because one or two teams might be dropping out of the comp. next season, it is possible we might still be in group 1 if the groups are reduced from three to two.

We had to use 2 non- members this year for reasons beyond my control, but  hopefully it won't happen again and we will only use fully paid up members.

The AMFC meeting will be on 27th Jan. 2008 at the Horsemoor Centre

NOTICE OF MOTIONS: It was proposed by A Dixon  that -GUEST'S BE LIMITED TO 2 CLUB OUTINGS PER SEASON.  seconded by R Palmer.  adopted by all present.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS:  With Frank Bayley leaving the club for pastures new, and John and Ray both resigning, the rest of the committee agreed to stay on and were re-elected.  No one else was prepared to commit themselves, except Mick Hill, who agreed to "give it a go".   Proposed by B Whitty and seconded by R Palmer.   It was decided to carry on with just 7 committee members.

Meeting closed at 9.04pm
